President William Ruto has arrived in Djibouti for the 41st Extraordinary Assembly of IGAD Heads of State and Government on the conflict in Sudan. 

This comes months after the 40th Extraordinary Assembly of the IGAD Heads of State and Government was held virtually.

The event took place on April 16, 2023.

The virtual event was attended by Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh, Kenya's William Ruto, South Sudan'sSalva Kiir Mayardit, Somalia's Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Uganda's Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. 

From the meeting, the leaders resolved to convene an Ordinary Session of the IGAD Assembly of Heads of State and Government in the shortest time possible either in-person or virtual format to deliberate on IGAD institutional matters and other issues of concern in the region.
