In a solemn ceremony at Ngiya village in Siaya County, leaders and family of the late Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla have laid him to rest.

Led by President William Ruto, the military bestowed the final badge of honour upon Ogolla's distinguished life and decorated legacy.

He was buried without a coffin and 72 hours following his death, as per his wishes.

Ogolla and nine others passed away on Thursday, April 18, in an aircraft crash at Elgeyo Marakwet.

In attendance at Sunday's ceremony were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Defence CS Aden Duale and Interior PS Raymond Omollo.

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto was also present among others.
