Kenya on Wednesday joined the rest of the globe in marking World Environment Day.
The national fete was held at the University of Embu.
Those present during the event include Environment CS Soipan Tuya and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire.
Environment PS Festus Ng’eno, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) board chairperson Emilio Mugo and DG Mamo Boru Mamo were also present.
This year's event was held under the theme, 'Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience'.
The day was marked by a tree planting exercise at Kiambuthi Wetland.
Nema has partnered with the University of Embu which has adopted the wetland for restoration to establish a recreational centre and protect it from further encroachment.
