Activist Boniface Mwangi, former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, Haki Africa Director Khalid Hussein and activist Hanifa Farsafi were on Monday taken to Nairobi regional police station cells.

The four were carried by Subarus to the cells.

Mutunga was to accompany the three activists to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters.

They presented themselves at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road at 11 am on Monday.

"Tomorrow at 11 am I shall accompany Hanifa Adan Hussein Khalid and Boniface Mwangi to DCI_Kenya HQs on Kiambu Road. Mwangi was almost abducted outside the City Mortuary on Friday contrary to Art. 238(2)(b) of the Constitution. Join us in solidarity," Mutunga said on X.

The move comes amid a wave of abductions of people who have been vocal in the protests against the Finance Bill, 2024.

Protestors gathered to demonstrate outside the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters off Kiambu Road.
