Thursday was marred with tear gas and running battles between police and protesters in various parts of the country.
The Gen Z protesters relentlessly engaged police officers amid tear gas fired at them from all angles.
Contingents of police officers were strategically positioned across the streets to counter the protesters.
Protesters arrived in Nairobi CBD in the morning to participate in the hyped demonstrations dubbed Nane Nane.
Police arrested some protesters along Tom Mboya Street in Nairobi. They were bundled into a standby police vehicles.
Generally, there was heavy deployment of anti-riot police officers in the city.
This was the second month since the youth-led protests began on June 18.
Residents in most parts of the country including Mombasa, Kisumu and several Western Kenya towns kept off the streets.
A majority of the residents cited the need to give President William Ruto time to deliver his development agenda.
“We are busy watching Joho being sworn-in. The Gen Z can protest in their homes,” Salim Swaleh, a resident of Mombasa, said.
