President William presided over the Presidential Awards-Kenya (PA-K) ceremony on Thursday at the State House.

The ceremony attracted close to 1, 517 young people aged between 14-25 years from schools, colleges and universities drawn across the country.

President Ruto, addressing the participants, underscored the importance of the role of the youth in the social development of the nation through their selfless act.

Launched in 1966 by Kenya’s founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, PA-K is a self-development program for all young people that aims at equipping them with positive life skills to make a difference for themselves, their communities, country and the world. 

It is a member of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award which oversees the Award Program in over 140 countries.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award was founded by His Royal Highness (HRH), The Duke of Edinburgh KG, KT in 1956, in conjunction with Kurt Hahn, a German educationalist and Sir John Hunt.
