Deputy President William Ruto on Friday held a worship service with religious leaders from Uasin Gishu at his home in Sugoi.
Places of worship were closed in March following the rise in coronavirus cases in the country.
The DP hosted the church leaders alongside his wife Rachael Ruto.
Taking to Twitter, the DP said, "Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer. ~ Hebrews 10:25."
Reopening of places of worship is in the works following the establishment of the Inter Faith Council which is tasked with developing protocols.
A team of 16 members headed by Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria was gazetted to develop stringent protocols for the phased reopening of places of worship.
On June 27, the council said that it will be releasing guidelines on reopening of places of worship in the next week.
Muheria said the mandate of the Council, among, others are developing guidelines for safe phased re-opening of places of worship, developing guidelines on the celebration of weddings, funerals and other religious ceremonies.
A recent study by Infotrak indicated that at least 59 per cent of Kenyans want worship places reopened.
The poll shows that Coast has more Kenyans seeking reopening of worship places at 77 per cent.
Residents of Western are also keener on the resumption of religious gatherings at 64 per cent followed by Northeastern, Central and Nairobi at 61 per cent.
