The WPP-Scangroup Plc has announced the suspension of its CEO Bharat Thakrar and Chief financial officer Satyabrata Das over alleged gross misconduct.
In a statement on Friday, the firm confirmed that the two officials were suspended by the WPP board of directors to allow an investigation into the claims.
Following the suspension, the board delegated authority to an interim Chief Operating officer Alec Graham to ensure continued management.
"Alec Graham has 25 years experience in the advertising and communications business working with various companies in the WPP pic group," WPP communications said.
The board is expected to consider the appointment of an interim Chief financial officer in due course.
“For the time being, therefore, shareholders and investors are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the Company's securities,” said the Board.
WPP-Scangroup is a subsidiary of WPP and is listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
It is the largest marketing and communication group operating a multi-agency model across multiple disciplines in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The group comprises several ad agencies among them Scanad.
