Just a day after jetting back to Kisumu, opposition chief Raila Odinga announced on Monday that reggae was back and "unstoppable".

Raila, who addressed impromptu rallies in Kondele and Kisumu's main bus park, told his supporters that the constitutional review process was on course.

Speaking in Luo, Raila who was accompanied by Kisumu county leaders led by Governor Anyan'g Nyong'o and his deputy Mathews Owili, asked Kenyans who support the review process not to be worried about the court decision to stop the initiative.

Raila who had earlier met ODM leaders from the county and MCAs at a closed-door meeting said a formidable team of lawyers had been assembled to ensure the appeal to reverse the lower court's decision will succeed.

"Do not be worried about what is happening in the courts. We will ensure the issue is sorted out so that we proceed to a referendum, " he said.

The former Prime Minister, who also appealed to the residents to give President Uhuru Kenyatta a rousing welcome when he arrives for Madaraka Day celebrations next week, said the set back that the Constitution Amendment Bill, 2020 has faced will be overcome.

"Even in the Bible Ayub was tempted by the devil. We must not lose hope because in the end, we will defeat the enemies of the reforms agenda because nobody can stop reggae, " he said.

"We are having high level guests next week and I want you to warmly welcome the president and his entourage. As they say in Swahili, Mgeni Njoo, mwenyeji apone.

Uhuru and Raila are set for a major fightback to salvage BBI through a legal battle involving the crème de la crème of constitutional lawyers.

The eight lawyers range from celebrated constitutional legal titans to avid trial experts, tipping the Court of Appeal for a major showdown against anti-building Bridges Initiative forces.

While the BBI team and the IEBC lawyers are pursuing different appeals, a big meeting bringing together all the lawyers was held last week.

The BBI and IEBC legal team attacks would be a multi-pronged duel at the Court of Appeal to not only salvage BBI but also to rescue the electoral commission.

This even as it emerged that acting Court of Appeal President Wanjiru Karanja is expected to constitute a bench to hear and determine the appeals once formally filed at the court.
