Kenya records 37 new Covid cases, two deaths

The country's fatalities have risen to 5,631 after another two patients succumbed to the disease.

Kenya on Sunday recorded 37 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 322,473, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 4,102 recording a positivity rate of 0.9 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 3,295,082.

The country's fatalities have risen to 5,631 after another two patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that a total of 172 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 741 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Some four patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 3 of them on ventilatory support and 1 on supplemental oxygen.

Another 38 patients are on supplemental oxygen, 35 of them are in the general wards while three patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Meanwhile,51 patients have recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. Total recoveries now stand at 302,744 of whom 249,980 are from the Home-6Based Care and Isolation program, while 52,764 are from various health facilities countrywide.

VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

As of February 12, a total of 15,236,700 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 7,394,533 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 6,943,531.2Another 674,951 are doses administered to those between 15 to17 years while 223,685 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is172,985 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 69,218.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 63.1%.

Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 25.5%.

The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
