The United Democratic Party UDA on Friday gained a boost after Nyeri County Assembly Speaker, his deputy, and 25 MCAs joined the party.
The MCAs were received by Deputy President William Ruto at his official Karen residence in Nairobi.
The Nyeri assembly has 30 elected MCAs.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga is DP’s ally and had vowed to mobilise Nyeri residents to back Ruto in the August 9, election.
At the same time, the DP also welcomed Nyandarua County Assembly Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader and 17 elected MCAs to the party.
While receiving them, the DP said it is time to change the economy of the country.
Ruto said that the Kenya Kwanza Alliance which also includes the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula is united to form the next government and change the lives of Kenyans.
“We are united to form a government that will align the interests of the marginalised areas with those of the other parts of Kenya to stimulate equality and bring more development in our country.”
