A fresh storm has rocked an independent state agency amid sex scandal allegations. A small bird whispered to Corridors of Power about the big fight pitting the boss who has been enjoying good times with a junior officer and an ex-girlfriend. Initially, the amorous boss was going out with the high-ranking official. The details of the previous unholy relationship have resurfaced, setting the stage for a serious fight at the agency. Those in the know say the scandal has affected service delivery owing to the strategic link between the offices occupied by the two damsels. The new queen is now stepping on everybody’s toes causing havoc.

For the past few weeks, Corridors of Power has been awash with tales of broke aspirants burdening either their coalition colleagues or milking coat hangers dry. Another case has emerged where a governor candidate has riled his campaign team over his frequent excuses whenever he is asked to provide money to run affairs. The county chief hopeful has been relying on a former state official who was part of his team before the nominations did them part. The state functionary, who used to fund everything, is running as an independent. The governor aspirant’s team has trashed his plans to sell a piece of land to raise Sh50 million.

A governor aspirant was at the weekend left embarrassed. This was after what would have been an elaborate and colourful funds drive at a four-star hotel failed to hit the bull’s eye. The outspoken politician, we are told, had invited who-is-who in the political circles and moneyed friends from the diaspora with the hope of collecting Sh30 million. Our mole tells us only Sh2 million was realised. Guests failed to stick to the rules of the game of donating nothing less than Sh200, 000, forcing him to sullenly storm out of the meeting without a word.

Did last minute instructions from Nairobi frustrate a planned public rally that was billed as a mammoth gathering for a campaign launch at the Coast? Well, Corridors of Power has learnt that bigwigs of a leading coalition did not want the meeting to proceed. Politicos close to the outfit’s top brass were overheard vowing that the meeting would not happen, saying that they had had enough of threats from the conveners. They would brag that if anything, the current area governor is a ranking leader in the political outfit. Time will tell how this game will unfold.
