Kenya records 163 new Covid cases as positivity rate stands at 6.6%

No patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain 5,651.

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 163 new cases of Covid 19 from a sample size of 2,470 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 6.6%.

Of the cases, 137 are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners. 86 are males and 77 females.

According to a Statement by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the youngest is one a one-year-old while the oldest is 87 years old.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 325,797 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,685,969.

In terms of County distribution, Nairobi has 105 cases, Kiambu 24, Nakuru six and Kitui five.

Kajiado, Kilifi and Siaya, have recorded four case.

Nyeri has three while Embu, Mombasa and Kisumu have two.

Uasin Gishu and Busia recorded one case each.

"Today, 128 patients have recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home-Based and Isolation Care Program," the CS said.

This pushes the total recoveries to 319,035 of whom 266,004 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,031 are from various health facilities countrywide.

No patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,651.

There are eight patients currently admitted to various health facilities while 1,103 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), none is on supplemental oxygen and no patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
