The Kenya Christian Professionals Forum ( KCPF) has applauded the United States Supreme Court for the ruling it issued on abortion.

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional protection for abortion and allowing states to set their own laws regulating the procedure.

In a statement, KCPF chairman Charles Kanjama stated that the decision by the USA is a major boost towards the protection of the life of the unborn child.

“This will pave the way for greater respect for life at all stages of development from the moment of conception until natural death,” he stated.

KCPF which is anti-abortion has filed an appeal to reverse a Malindi court decision whose ruling was made based on the Roe v.Wade case.

In March 2022, the High Court in Malindi Kenya in the case PAK and Salim Mohamed v AG and 3 others, ruled that abortion care is a fundamental right under Kenya’s Constitution, a position which KCPF believe is outrageous and a misinterpretation of our constitution.

Kanjama revealed their appeal seeks to reverse the decision.

In addition to that, the Forum also has a pending case at the Court of Appeal in the FIDA case that it believes misinterpreted the Constitution to obstruct guidelines from the Ministry of Health, restricting the use of pro-abortion guidelines as well as the abortion pill responsible for numerous chemical abortions in Kenya.

“ We trust that Kenyan courts will show courage and reaffirm the right to life from the moment of conception as stated in the Kenyan Constitution,” Kanjama added.

KCPF affirmed that it will not give up in a bid to restore a culture of life in Kenya for purpose of posterity.

“We are confident that, alongside the church and all people of goodwill in Kenya, we will not grow weary, we will not rest until we restore a culture of life in Kenya for ourselves and our posterity,” Kanjama added.
