Busia ODM governor candidate Paul Nyongesa Otuoma has won the seat after his second stab.
Results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) showed Otuoma garnered 164, 478 votes.
His fierce competitor John Sakwa Bunyasi, outgoing Nambale MP, came in a distant second with 92,144 votes.
Bunyasi was the ANC party candidate.
Otuoma picked former Teso North MP Arthur Odera as his deputy to balance the tribal equation in the county that is dominantly inhabited by Luhyas followed by the Iteso community.
Otuoma will now take over from outgoing governor Sospeter Ojaamong who has completed his two terms.
