United Progressive Alliance candidate Amos Nyaribo has been re-elected Governor of Nyamira County.

Nyaribo, who is the incumbent, was announced the winner after garnering 82,090 votes.

His closest challenger Walter Nyambati of UDA garnered 49,281 votes.

Nyaribo took over the reins of the county following the death of the first governor John Nyagarama.

He was sworn into office on December 29, 2020.

He first took a shot at politics in 2007 when he unsuccessfully contested for the North Mugirango parliamentary seat.

In 2013, he teamed up with Nyagarama and they were elected as Governor and Deputy Governor respectively.

Until his entry into elective politics, Nyaribo who is a chartered Accountant, worked in Government and non-state organisations in senior managerial positions.
