At 11:20 am Fernandes Barasa was sworn in as Kakamega's third Governor.
He took oath along side his deputy Governor, Ayub Savula.
Outgoing governor Wycliffe Oparanya handed over instruments of power to the newly elected Governor.

Barasa was declared the winner in the Kakamega governor race after garnering 192,768 votes against his closest challenger Malala who got 59,275 votes.
The election which was postponed twice by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) recorded a low voter turnout.
Barasa won in all the constituencies in the southern region and two others in the northern region, while Malala won in all constituencies in the central and northern regions.
