Leaders have joined the family of the former Anabkoi MP William Chepkut in mourning him after his death on Saturday.
The former MP's family confirmed his death saying he collapsed in his house and was rushed to Mediheal hospital parklands where he was pronounced dead.
Leaders have described him as a humble and social person.
In a statement on Saturday, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir said that Chepkut was a hardworking person who served his constituency diligently.
"I have learned with great sadness of the untimely passing of my friend Hon. William Chepkut in Nairobi. Chepkut and I served together in the 12th Parliament. During that time, he worked for the people of Ainabkoi constituency with diligence and commitment,'' Nassir tweeted.
"He was a down to earth Member of Parliament, highly social and frequently caused surprises when he visited his constituency using boda bodas. Will miss him as a friend and Kenya will miss him as a leader. We surely belong to God and to Him we shall return."
Konoin MP Leonard Yegon said the country has lost a dedicated leader.
"I am deeply saddened & heartbroken to learn about the demise of former Ainabkoi MP Hon William Chepkut. We have lost a truly dedicated and diligent leader who provided exemplary leadership. My heartfelt condolences goes to his family, friends and the people of Ainabkoi," he tweeted.
"Rest in Peace Chepkut," Embakasi East MP Babu Owino said.
Former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa eulogised him as a charismatic personality.
"Saddened to learn of the passing on of Hon. William Chepkut. We served with him during the 12th Parliament and he was indeed a charismatic personality. May God grant his family and friends fortitude to bear the loss. May he RIP," he said.
"Still in shock and disbelief!How do you eulogize a brother and friend?How do you even coin a phrase to say the least about someone so dear to you?I sincerely lack words! Till we meet again sir, rest easy brother!" Former Keses MP Mishra Chelule said.
Molo MP Kuria Kimani said he was a lively MP.
"Saddened to learn of the death of Hon William Chepkut, a lively MP and one so full of life. My deepest condolences to the family. RIP," he tweeted.
The former MP has been unwell for sometime and was admitted to hospital for long between late last year and early this year.
He served his constituency between 2017 to 2022 as an independent candidate.
Chepkut was succeeded by Samwel Chepkonga of UDA party in the 2022 election.
