Secretary to the Cabinet nominee Mercy Kiiru Wanjau has said she is confident she will handle her docket with ease if approved.
Wanjau who appeared before the National Assembly Committee on appointments on Saturday said she has handled smaller boards before and she will use the skills she has as there's only a thin margin between the boards.
"I have reflected deeply on this nomination from my experiences of the past and I believe if I'm nominated, I'm more than able to handle this task," she said.
" The membership and the cornerstone of the membership is actually diversity so this is not a homogeneous board, it does have the diversity of skills, diversity of experiences in order to bring value."
Wanjau said she believes that a board of 24 while it may be larger in number, has the same principle at the cornerstone of it which is to exercise individual and collective responsibility.
She added that the board also has to move the implementation and progression of government policy through decision-making through the cabinet.
Wanjau was answering a question on how she will handle a board of 24 largely comprised of politicians having only dealt with boards that are smaller, and are comprised of sector players.
She will be responsible, subject to the directions of the Cabinet, for arranging the business and keeping the minutes of the Cabinet.
She will also convey the decisions of the Cabinet to the appropriate persons or authorities and have other functions as directed by the Cabinet.
A lawyer, Wanjau worked at the Communication Authority of Kenya for over 20 years.
She also served as CA assistant director, Regulatory and Governance between 2002 and 2017. She was then promoted to director, Legal Services.
