Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has said he is ready to campaign for Azimio party candidate Wafula Wamunyinyi for the Bungoma senatorial seat.
In a statement on Thursday, Ledama said that Bungoma now has a solid candidate who has been endorsed by Raila Odinga.
“Let us all meet in Bungoma and carry out an issue-based campaign- to ensure Wamunyinyi is the next Senator of Bungoma. I will be there,” he said.
Raila, on Thursday, backed Wamunyinyi ahead of the upcoming by-election.
He said the coalition will offer Wamunyinyi the full support he'll need to win the election.
“Wafula Wamunyinyi has what it takes to contest for this seat, he has a record of speaking out for the people of Kenya,” he said.
The seat was declared vacant by IEBC following the election of Moses Wetang'ula as National Assembly Speaker.
The by-election will take place on December 8, 2022.
Wamunyinyi will face off with the Ford Kenya party's choice for the high-stakes battle that will see President William Ruto lock horns with Raila.
