Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula on Thursday met with the Danish Ambassador to Kenya Ole Thonke in his office at Parliament Buildings.
Wetangula thanked the Ambassador for paying him a courtesy call, adding that Kenya and Denmark remain to be great partners.
He acknowledged collaborations in development fronts especially in humanitarian engagements, recognizing the contribution of the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) which he said has brought immense development in the country.
"The government of Denmark has been a key partner to Kenya in sustainable development through the operations of DANIDA and other development programmes," Wetangula said.
"I am sure Danish investors are geared towards high seasons in doing business as the country has now moved from the General Election and shifted to grow the economy."
Wetangula emphasized the importance of exploring partnerships on the legislative arena especially now that Denmark recently concluded her general elections.
He said MPs will benchmark with Denmark through capacity building and exchange programmes organized through Parliamentary caucuses.
Aware of the fact that Kenya is developing economy, Ambassador Ole Thonke tabled legislative proposals geared towards enhancing better collaborations between the two countries.
"Kenya has made great strides in the management of the 47 counties. We are determined to work directly with the counties and dialogue with the leadership on areas of development," Thonke said.
He said Kenya is on the right path in achieving the SDGs, embracing technology, mitigating climate change and supporting the SMEs.
Ambassador Thonke lauded Wetangula on his election and by extension, his leadership at the 13th Parliament.
He described Kenya's 2022 general elections as peculiar but successful, pointing out it was worth emulating by other African states.
The two also discussed the need to strengthen ties on areas of governance, agriculture, Microfinance, Health and climate change and trade among other areas.
