Hassan Omar leads as Senate casts EALA vote

Kenya Kwanza has five slots at the regional assembly.

Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has won Senate's vote to represent the country at the East African Legislative Assembly.

He garnered 46 votes to lead the race in the Kenya Kwanza camp which has five slots at the EALA. 

Results for the other candidates are as follows;

Iman Falhada (43), Fred Muteti (39), Ziporah Kerring (37), David Sankok (35) Adan Abdikadir (13) Said Salim (0),  Iringo Kubai (12), Mwangi Maina (29), Joel Okengo (2), Sheikh Ali (2), Liliam Tomitom (2).

"We shall as a house relay the results to the National Assembly in form of a message as we wait for results from the National Assembly," Speaker Amason Kingi said. 

The ultimate winners for the five slots in the Kenya Kwanza camp will be determined after the National Assembly completes voting.
