President William Ruto on Friday toured the port of Mombasa and paid a courtesy call on Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir at his office.
The President who is credited for reverting port services to Mombasa soon after taking the oath of office on September 13 said the upgrading of the port will boost container capacity and ease operational efficiency.
"The upgrading of the Port of Mombasa will boost its container capacity and operational efficiencies, regaining its repute as East Africa’s gateway to trade. This will create more jobs and further prosperity for the people of the Coastal region," Ruto said.
He was accompanied by a number of his cabinet members including Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen, Cooperatives and SMEs CS Simon Chelugui and his Mining counterpart Salim Mvurya.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, EALA MP Hassan Omar, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko and her Nyali counterpart Mohammed Ali were also present.
