The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has received a boost after the German Embassy in Nairobi donated 25 computers.
German Ambassador Sebastian Groth handed over the computers to the DCI director Mohamed Amin, who was accompanied by directors from various departments on December 14.
The envoy appreciated the critical role played by the DCI in fighting crime especially in dealing with transnational organized crimes including terrorism and violent extremism.
He said his country would continue being a strategic security ally to the directorate.
The DCI chief lauded the ongoing collaboration that had seen the directorate benefit from the ingenuity of the German people.
Amin acknowledged the support extended to the Crime Scene Investigations unit that has so far received scientific crime scene equipment worth over Sh50 million.
The police unit has so far received five vehicles and over 30 motorbikes in the past two years.
The DCI director hailed the ongoing partnership that has also seen over 100 officers benefit from courses sponsored by the German government locally and abroad through the GIZ programme and also through DCI’s collaboration with the Federal Criminal Police, BKA.
Meanwhile, Amin received members of the Parliamentary Administration and Internal Affairs Committee, who were on a visit to DCI headquarters.
The members of the critical house committee were on a mission to understand with greater detail, how the directorate discharges its mandate and the challenges DCI faces in delivering public safety and security services to Kenyans.
They also visited several departments as part of the tour.
