Mount Kenya University staff has signed a performance contract to enhance the service delivery in the institution.

University vice-chancellor Prof Deo Janganyi unveiled the theme of the contract as: “Utilization of Maximum Institutional Capacity for Optimal Performance and Sustainability”.

Prof Jaganyi said that the performance contract is a commitment by the University’s top management to the council and aims to ensure that they offer quality services to the community through quality learning.

He said that it outlines specific goals and targets for the university, which are aligned with the university’s strategic plan for 2020-2029. 

“The participation of the University Council in the performance contract signing ceremony today demonstrates their obligation to ensure that there is a total commitment to the delivery of the 2023 targets,” he said.

He noted that the university is on track in its drive to expand access to quality, affordable university education.

Optimal performance will enable the university to unlock the door to higher education for more learners.

He said that the university has increased access to quality education through a robust network of campuses in Nairobi, Parklands, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Meru, and Kigali (Rwanda).

MKU Council Chairman, Prof David Serem emphasized institutional capacity, optimal performance, and sustainability, as what all should aspire to do within the next 12 months, and up to 2029 when MKU’s current strategic plan ends.

Prof Serem vowed that the Council “commits total and unwavering support to the University Management to ensure that all resources required are provided in line with the 2020-2029 Strategic Plan to build adequate institutional capacity for optimal performance.”

Mount Kenya University Rwanda (MKUR) recently launched a book that documents its journey in the country and the successes it has recorded.
