Raila's final destination unknown as police secure Jacaranda grounds

Opposition Chief Raila Odinga is yet to send a signal to his supporters on where he plans to start or end his anti-government protests in Nairobi.

Despite the silence in the morning, anti-riot police have been stationed on major roads within Nairobi and along the highways.

Jacaranda grounds was on Thursday spotted with police water canons and anti-riot police.

Jacaranda grounds is located in Embakasi East which is led by Raila's loyalist, MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino.

The first protest was held on March 20, 2023. Raila was meant to lead protests in Nairobi's Central Business District but diverted to Mathare after police blocked all roads leading to the city centre.

During Monday's demos, Raila was in Kawanagware and later terminated his journey in Kibra.

And on Thursday, it's still not known where the Opposition Chief will be headed for his third anti-government protest.

The Star has established that Raila might use Thika Road to head to Githurai then snake through Eatslands via Outering road and terminate his journey at Jacaranda grounds.

By 12 pm, running battles between police and protesters were witnessed in Mathare-Number 10 area.

Tear gas was lobbed at the protesters who retaliated by pelting stones at police.

The situation is no different in Kibra, Kisumu's CBD and Homa Bay.
