A section of MPs from the Rift Valley has accused Azimio leader Raila Odinga of changing the goalposts in his push to have concerns raised by the Opposition.

Led by Kesses MP Julius Rutto, the legislators said the Azimio leader had another agenda than pushing the government to address issues around the cost of living, audit of the last election, and reconstitution of IEBC.

"Raila or people around him could be pushing another agenda. They seem to be pushing for nusu mkate but we want to tell them they will not get it," he told journalists at a press conference in Parliament Buildings.

He regretted that Raila is insisting that issues raised by the Opposition cannot be addressed through a parliamentary process.

"Only in Parliament can the interests of the people be properly looked at," he added.

Soy MP David Kiplagat said President William Ruto was kind to Azimio and offered them an olive branch.

"Ruto proposed a bipartisan parliamentary process and Raila appeared to agree at first. We ask Raila to direct his energies to other things," he said.

Kiplagat added that Kenya Kwanza cannot succumb to threats by Azimio of reverting to demonstrations if their demands are not met.

"You cannot threaten us that you will go back to the streets. We also know how to go to the streets," he added.

Keiyo South MP Gideon Kimaiyo said the last elections were peaceful and the dispute around the presidential poll was settled.

"The matter was settled and he remained silent for six months until somebody lied to him there is a way he could get into government," he said.

Keresoi North MP Alfred Mutai and his Emuguen counterpart Josses Lelmengit echoed the sentiments of their colleagues.
