Vivo Energy Kenya joins in fight against drought

Said the donation will enable the desilting of water pans and boreholes in 32 counties.

Vivo Energy Kenya has donated 35,000 liters of diesel to the National Steering Committee on drought response.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the company said the donation aims at aiding the Wakenya Tulindane initiative, which was launched by President William Ruto.

“4.35 million Kenyans are suffering the effects of the ongoing drought in Kenya and as a company that recognises the importance of giving back to our communities, we are committed to supporting efforts that alleviate the impact of droughts on vulnerable communities,” read the statement.

They added that the donation will enable the desilting of water pans and boreholes in 32 counties to provide water.

The company’s Managing Director Peter Murungi said he believes the donation will assist most of the people affected by drought.

"We are proud to support the National Steering Committee on Drought Response in their important work," said Murungi.

"We believe that our donation will go a long way to assist in providing some relief to those affected by droughts and help to ensure that communities have access to essential resources during these challenging times."

The company also said that it is committed to making a positive impact in the communities they serve.

“We believe that supporting our communities is not just a responsibility, but a privilege and we will continue to look for ways to make a difference,” noted Vivo Energy Kenya.
