Governor Joseph Lenku on Tuesday nominated three individuals to take up the remaining positions in the county cabinet.
Among those nominated by Lenku is Katoo ole Metito’s running mate, in last year’s gubernatorial elections, Judy Pere.
Pere is Lenku’s nominee for Trade, Investment, and Co-operatives CEC member.
Janet Sereu was nominated for the Gender, Culture, Tourism, and Wildlife.
Jacktone Achola was nominated for Roads, Public Works, Transport, and Energy.
The county assembly is mandated by law to vet all three appointees.
Meanwhile, Kajiado County Assembly has rejected Governor Joseph Lenku’s letter seeking to stop the MCAs from recommending the removal of his education CEC member.
The assembly rejected Lenku’s letter and told him it will maintain the status quo after voting for the removal of the education CEC member.
On March 21 the MCAs voted, pursuant to Section 4O of the County Governments Act, to remove from office the Education, Vocational Training, Youth and Sports CEC member Jeremiah Ncharo.
The section of the law used by the MCAs gives them powers to recommend the removal of the CECs found to have bridged the law.
After the assembly, law experts wrote to the governor and specified the law the MCAs used in recommending the removal of Ncharo, Lenku continued to keep his education minister.
Ncharo, Lenku said, is not going anywhere so long as he is still the governor of Kajiado.
