The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary will partner with universities to enhance service delivery to Kenyans.
Principal Secretary for the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs Aurelia Rono said the partnership will be largely based on policy formulation, public participation mechanism, and public service delivery reforms.
The PS had paid a courtesy visit to Egerton University vice chancellor Prof Isaac Kibwage where they discussed among others collaboration with the OPCS.
"The OPCS is developing tools for impacting principles of Whole-of-Government and Open-Government approaches in the public service for efficient delivery of service to the citizens," Rono said.
Rono also expressed her eagerness to partner with Egerton University as the OPCS implements its strategic plan to serve the people of Kenya.
The State Department for Parliamentary Affairs is under the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
The PS was at the university to officially open a strategic plan preparation workshop by a technical committee from the OPCS.
Prof Kibwage requested the government to give universities priority when hiring consultants to help build institutions of higher learning.
He emphasised that this would benefit not only the universities but also contribute to the development of human resources in the country.
"Universities will be useful in providing expertise in policy formulation and validation, public participation mechanisms’ formulation, and human resource development," he said.
PS Rono acknowledged that the university is a leader in agricultural research and should assist the government in agricultural transformation as the sector remains the leading employer in the country.
“As Kenya strives to fast-track transformational development goals, partnerships between institutions of higher learning and the government will be intensified,” she said.
"The combined efforts of both institutions in agricultural human resource development and environmental conservation will go a long way in enhancing the quality of life of Kenyans and preserving the environment."
