President William Ruto has gazetted the appointment of Irungu Nyakera as the new chairperson of the Board of Directors of Kemsa.
The gazette dated May 15, 2023, states that Nyakera will serve for three months, effective today.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (a) of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces of the Republic of Kenya, appoints Irungu Nyakera as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 15th May, 2023," it reads.
His appointment follows the firing of Daniel Rono.
His sack followed the cancellation of the Sh3.7 billion mosquito net tender by the Global Fund.
The Fund cited irregularities in the tender procurement.
Further, Health CS Susan Wafula has also gazetted the appointment of four new board members.
They include Hezbon Oyieko Omollo, Bernard Kipkirui Bett, Jane Masiga and Jane Nyagaturi Mbatia.
They will also serve for a period of three years.
Mbatia's appointment took effect on March 10, 2023.
