The Chinese Embassy has dismissed reports that Chinese hackers have attacked Kenya's key ministries and state institutions.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Chinese Embassy spokesperson said the report, which was exclusively published on Reuters, was "far-fetched and sheer nonsense".

The Embassy noted that blaming the cyber attack on them, especially on another government was a highly sensitive political issue.

It added that hacking was a common threat to all countries, including China.

"The relevant media should adopt a professional and responsible attitude and underscore the importance to have enough evidence when conducting reports, rather than make groundless assumptions and accusations," it said.

Further, the Embassy noted that Kenya and China have established a partnership, friendship and diplomatic ties spanning some 60 years.

It said this has seen the two nations acquire deep political mutual trust and fruitful practical cooperation acquiring much from them.

It added that China was committed to strengthening the said partnership with Kenya.

"Guided by the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and with a commitment to the greater good and shared interests. China endeavours to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with Kenya and work together with Kenya to strive for new progress in the China-Kenya comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership," it said.

The Embassy further warned that attempts to break the solidarity will fail.

"Any attempt to sow discord between China and Kenya is doomed to failure and will only disgrace oneself."
