A man in Buruburu, Nairobi, was arrested after he stabbed and killed his wife in a domestic quarrel.
The man told police he had a domestic quarrel with his 42-year-old wife which led to a physical fight.
He claimed the wife became violent, picked a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the hand.
This, according to him, prompted him to take another kitchen knife and stabbed her before leaving her lying on the floor.
He left the house and came back minutes later when he found she had succumbed.
Police were called to the scene and said they recovered both knives at the scene.
The man was arrested pending further investigation.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
Police statistics show cases of violent domestic fights are on the rise amid campaigns to address the menace.
Most of the victims are women, police say.
