After the finance bill was passed by the National Assembly, Kitui MPs affiliated with the Azimio coalition have asked Kenyans to brace up for tougher times.

Speaking in Nguutani market in Mwingi West where they attended a funeral service, Kitui county MP Irene Kasalu told locals that whatever the country is facing is perhaps a punishment from God.

Her words were backed by Kitui Rural MP, Bonnie Mwalika who asked Kenyans to brace up for tougher times.

Quoting the Holy Book, Kasalu has said God looked at the hardened hearts of Kenyans and decided to punish them with a leader such as President William Ruto.

"The Bible says there can be a time when God looks and realizes you have a hard stance and He gifts you a bad person as a president. I think this is what the Lord has to Kenya. When Ruto was doing his campaigns, Kenyans said they want the wheelbarrow. Now you are reaping what they sow. What do you expect when you said you want the wheelbarrow?" She posed

The county MP added that as the opposition, they will fight for the rights of Kenyans adding the work of the opposition has finally begun.

"We fought for your rights on the floor of the assembly and we will continue to do so as the opposition," she added.

"The effects of the finance bill on Kenyans portrays a leader who is not concerned about the welfare of his electorate."

She also called for national prayers adding only the Supreme Being would salvage the country.

Her counterpart from Kitui Rural, Bonnie Mwalika urged Kenyans to press on as the cost of living will yet again go up from July 1st.

"If you want to travel to Mombasa, please go now, because from date 1, the bus fares will hike and the hike in petroleum products, is a hike to almost all commodities. So just prepare for tougher times," said Mwalika.

He also faulted the current regime saying it is serving Kenyans in a  dictatorial manner.

"In the previous finance bills, we would first sit with the president as MPs, discuss the bill and then make amendments, but in the current regime, such are dreams," stated Mwalika
