Central Organisation of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli and Narok Senator Ledama Olekina on Saturday exchanged words on social media.

The bone of contention was about the retirement of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU)  boss.

It all started when the Senator asked when Atwoli will be retiring as the COTU secretary general.

"When is Atwoli retiring? This man has been around the labor movement for decades!" Olekina posed.

He noted that Atwoli has been the trade union boss since late President Daniel Arap Moi was in power.

Atwoli still held the same position when former Presidents Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta were in power.

Olekina opined that even the current President William Ruto will finish his term and leave Atwoli serving in the same capacity.

"The way things are unfolding, the current occupier of the house on the hill will also go and leave him there," the senator said.

"I wonder what Atwoli's secret is ?" he added.

Atwoli responded saying the secret is that he gives good service to the Kenyans he serves and that he is honest.

"Secret is that " Good service to man is service to God and he who serves God you cannot defeat him I will be there for sometimes because of honesty ! God Bless," Atwoli said.

Atwoli has held the position of COTU secretary general since the year 2001.

He has maintained the position as he keeps on being re-elected.

In April  2021, he was re-elected to serve his fifth term in office.
