Activist Boniface Mwangi was on Tuesday elated after he crossed paths with Azimio leader Raila Odinga in Nairobi.
Mwangi said he bumped into the former Prime Minister and took the opportunity to sell him his book UnBounded, a collection of stories and photos about experiences that have shaped his life.
"Nairobi is a small town; it's even smaller for a hawker who is selling his book #BMunBounded, spreading love, and cheers all around," he said in a Twitter post.
"In my rounds today, I bumped into former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, I sold him my book, told him stories of the streets, and we took some pictures for the record. In exchange, he told me stories of the streets in his time," he added.
He said they shared stories about politics, music and his images in the book.
The activist was part of Raila's campaign team for the August 9 presidential election before he broke ranks with the faction following Raila's loss.
Besides Raila's former chief agent Saitabao ole Kanchory, Mwangi is the only other person in the campaign team who publicly castigated Raila's insiders for the loss.
In a long detailed Facebook post on September 13, 2022 hours before the inauguration of President William Ruto, Mwangi gave a blow-by-blow account of how Azimio slept on the job by underestimating the Kenya Kwanza camp.
"We failed to do the hard work of strategising, organising and mobilising our base to come out and vote, especially in our strongholds," the post read in part.
He also alleged that the Azimio team failed to protect its agents from the temptation of easy bribes from their competitors and allowed them to be compromised at the polling stations.
"We also failed to protect our votes because we had too much faith that the IEBC would conduct a credible, free and fair election," he added.
The human rights activist laid the blame on Raila's insiders who he said betrayed the opposition chief and cost him the presidency.
"My heart hurts for Hon Raila Odinga. He was betrayed in 2007, 2013, and 2017 by people whom he never dealt with or punished. It is also a lesson to all of us to punish laziness, incompetence and betrayal."
