The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has redeployed 54 officers to new stations majority of them from Kitengela and Mlolongo stations.
In a statement dated July 24, DCI boss Mohamed Amin directed the officers to report to their new stations on or before August 1, 2023.
Officers affected include those in the rank of police constable, sergeant and senior sergeant.
The reshuffle comes in the wake of violent protests that rocked several parts of the country last week, mostly catching law enforcement officers off guard.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki admitted that there were security hitches during July 12 demonstrations that left about 10 people dead and property destroyed.
Speaking in Homa Bay County on Saturday, July 15 during the homecoming of Interior PS Raymond Omollo, Kindiki said some Kenyans took advantage of security hitches to hurt others, damage property and obstruct businesses.
"It happened and it will not happen again. I am sorry on behalf of the security sector- your Excellency- for the trauma and terror which we put innocent Kenyans through," Kindiki said.
During the protests, demonstrators engaged in wanton destruction of property and looting of private businesses as they responded to calls by the opposition to condemn the government's failure to lower the cost of living and lower taxes.
Among the public infrastructure installations destroyed include the Nairobi Expressway whose barriers were pulled down and flower pots broken.
In the reshuffle, 12 DCI officers were moved from Mlolongo while 14 were moved from Kitengela, another area that bore the brunt of the chaos.
