Tunza Mtoto Coalition has criticised Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja over an alleged corruption scandal at City Hall.

The coalition claimed that there are millions of shillings that are feared to have been paid for no services rendered.

In a statement on Monday, executive director Muthoni Ouko said the scandal comes at a time when Nairobians are struggling with the high cost of living.

"We draw the quick attention of Governor Johnson Sakaja to Chapter Six of the constitution on leadership and integrity and the County Government Act article 30 on functions of the governor that requires the governor to exercise the said functions with diligence," she said.

The coalition demanded that Sakaja issues a public statement on the scandal and commit to cooperating with the investigating authority.

Ouko added that some senior officers in the county and county assembly of Nairobi should step aside to pave the way for investigations.

The group gave Sakaja a seven-day ultimatum to address the alleged scandal.

"Should the governor not comply within seven days, the coalition will take action including and not limited to mobilising Nairobians to mass action to eject the corrupt officials from office as well as mobilise county taxes resistance from the various sectors until confidence is restored back in the leadership of the county."
