The Kenya Kwanza government has embarked on its journey to construct 400 markets.
On Tuesday, the state advertised 72 tenders for the first markets.
President William Ruto said his administration will remain committed to keeping the promise.
“I made a commitment to mama mboga to dignify their hustle by building markets across the country. These are the first 72 of the 400 markets we will build over the next 3 years. Keeping the promise it is,” he said.
The markets advertised were to be built in Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Kericho, Homa Bay, Nakuru, Laikipia and Samburu among other counties.
In this year’s budget, Sh5.2 billion has been set aside for the construction of markets.
