Former Nigerian President Jonathan Goodluck made a grand entrance at his nephew's traditional wedding ceremony held in Embu County on Saturday.
Jonathan was warmly welcomed by Embu mufu traditional drummers at the Izaak Walton Hotel which was colorfully decorated in an African culture.
He was received by former Runyenjes MP Njeru Kathangu and Embu elders led by their spokesman, who recited a few customary rituals before escorting the guests to the tents.
The groom known as Jude Barrister sat patiently waiting for his bride Joy Nyaga who was brought among a group of six women covered with leso's from top to bottom.
According to traditional customs, Barrister had to identify his bride without fail.
A few minutes later, he rightfully managed to identify Nyaga and proceeded to the next step of marriage rites.
Kathangu acted as father/guardian of Nyaga who is the daughter of the late former Runyenjes MP Kamwithi Munyi.
He said elders are custodians of traditions and culture, and as Embu elders, they are obligated to showcase it to the guests.
Jonathan who is also the groom's uncle wished the couple all the best as they began their new journey.
"I wish the couple a successful and happy marriage," he said.
As the ceremony continued, guests were entertained with both Nigerian and Kenyan music, and food.
The couple’s four children also attended the ceremony.
