The move by Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza to allegedly name a road after her husband has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans.

The governor shared pictures on her Facebook page on Saturday and in the caption indicated it's name as that of her husband.

"Murega Baichu Road. Hakuna boiling tena. #500kph #kabatikabati."

Kenyans reacted to the post with mixed reactions; some congratulated her while others questioned the move.

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot weighed in on the matter saying  Kenya needs a bill to guide the process of naming public installations.

"Kawira Mwangaza has simply followed in the ugly path taken by our nation's founding fathers. I think we need a public nomenclature bill to guide the process of naming of Key public installations. Just not sure whether to start in 1963 or 2023," he said.

Samirrahman Owuor Oduor said, "Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza names road after her husband Murega Baichu. No problem. Let's support our women in leadership so that they can build us; their hubbies an outstanding  legacy au vipi?"

Harun Muriuki said, "Tulikosea wapi? (Where did we go wrong?).

"Finally our road is good," Purity Sambi said.
