Warring Kericho governor Eric Mutai and his deputy Fred Kirui buried their differences ahead of President William Ruto's visit to the county for Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The two after a meeting held on Monday regretted the time wasted since the last general election.
At a meeting held at Kericho International Training Centre, the two vowed never to engage in a war of words that had nearly brought the county activities to a halt.
Last Friday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua told the governor and his deputy to forget their differences or risk being voted out.
The DP said Kericho which is the president's home and political stronghold was a letdown and an embarrassment over the endless war of words between the two.
Ainamoi member of the national assembly ambassador Benjamin Langat and county woman member of parliament Beatrice Kemei pushed for the reconciliation of the governor and his deputy.
"Never again shall we engage in a war of words at a time when we are supposed to serve the county residents," the governor said.
His deputy Engineer Fred said they have settled their issue and it was time now to serve residents.
"We have wasted valuable time since the last general election. The county residents gave us the mandate to lead you but for the last year it has been a time of name-calling among our supporters over our political differences," Kirui said.
