The National Assembly on Thursday approved the appointment of Andrew Musangi as the Chairperson of the Board of Central Bank of Kenya.
His approval was done after Molo MP Kimani Kuria moved a special motion on consideration of the findings of the Joint Committee of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning and the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget following a vetting exercise.
The approval was done during a Special Sitting of the House on September 14, convened by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
In August, President William Ruto nominated Musangi for the position of chairperson of the Central Bank of Kenya.
Musangi was picked from six candidates who had been shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
He then forwarded Musangi's name to Parliament for vetting and approval.
Following the approval, Musangi's name will be forwarded to Ruto for appointment and gazettement as the substantive CBK chairperson.
He will serve for four years.
