The celebrations will be on October 20, 2023.

Through a statement, the CS said the upgrading of the road to bitumen standards of 10km Kericho Town road will improve access to the Kericho Green Stadium as the county will be hosting several leaders.

"Once complete, the road will also help in the accessibility of other essential facilities in the County including markets and schools, and help in decongesting Kericho town," he said.

"The roads will have Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) components including walkways and a proper drainage system."

Other leaders who accompanied Murkomen to the launch are; Kericho governor Erick Mutai, Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Women Rep Beatrice Kemei, area MPs Nelson Koech and Benjamin Lang’at.

MCAs and national and County Government officials were also present.

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei had in June, announced the Mashujaa Day celebrations will be held in Kericho County.

The theme of the celebrations will be Universal Health Care.

"In this regard, please note that the Thematic Committee should start the process of designing activities leading to the launch of the UHC programme at the venue," Koskei said.

The decision for two out of Kenya’s three National Days to be hosted on a rotational basis by counties was started in 2016 by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

These are Madaraka Day celebrated on June 1 and Mashujaa Day celebrated on October 20.

Nairobi County, which had traditionally hosted all national celebrations of the National Days, was left with only Jamhuri Day celebrated on December 12.

The decision was aimed at boosting national cohesion and integration.
