Former East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism CS Phyllis Kandie has said that she will work with all to streamline the Agriculture sector after President William Ruto appointed her adviser for commodities market development.
An elated Kandie thanked President Ruto for the honour to serve under him.
She went on to say that she will, in her new capacity ensure that Ruto's vision to streamline the Agriculture sector is achieved.
Kandie said she will also ensure they set up channels that can link Kenyan farmers with international markets.
"I would like to thank HE the President for the honour he has bestowed on me to serve as his adviser, Commodities Market Development," she said.
"I undertake to work diligently with all stakeholders to ensure that his vision to streamline the Agriculture sector by setting up a licensed, Regulated private sector led National Commodities Exchange that shall link the Farmer to both the domestic and international markets becomes a reality."
Kandie served in former President Uhuru Kenyatta's Cabinet between 2013 and 2017 before she was appointed Kenyan ambassador to Belgium in 2018.
Her appointment comes a few days after Ruto also tapped into the expertise of former Energy CS Charles Keter as an adviser on Great Lakes Region Affairs.
"With humility, I wish to express my gratitude to H.E. the President, Dr William Ruto for appointing me as his Advisor on Great Lakes Region Affairs. I am deeply honoured and grateful for the trust and confidence that he has placed in me by appointing me to this role," Keter said.
"I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to the development, prosperity, and stability of the Great Lakes Region under his visionary leadership."
