Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has assured Western Kenya and the country as a whole that there is no rift between him and Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula.

Whereas there has been no differences between the two leaders, speculation was rife in some quarters that their appointment to powerful positions in government would trigger a fierce battle for the control of the vote-rich Mulembe nation.

But speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational prayer and thanksgiving service in Shinyalu, Kakamega, Mudavadi said they have chosen to move forward and work together.

"I want you to know that the Speaker of the National Assembly is none other than Moses Masika Wetang'ula; he is the leader of the Legislature. I am in the Executive, our leader is President William Ruto the Deputy leader is Rigathi Gachagua and then I am there," he said.

"Two arms of government, why are you inciting people every day that Wetang'ula and Musalia. I can't go and be the Speaker. Wachana vitina wewe (stop the gossip) stop it."

The Prime CS urged the Western region to embrace Ruto's government since they have him and Wetang'ula in strategic positions.

He said him and the Speaker have the President's ears.

Mudavadi said their goal is to increase the number of votes Ruto got in the Western region which boosts of two million registered voters.

The CS said Ruto has a head-start advantage ahead of the 2027 polls and he is keeping his promises to those who put him in office.

Mudavadi added that they will work with Ruto towards the 2027 general election and maybe deliberate after that.

The Prime CS and Wetang'ula, then the Bungoma Senator, ditched the Opposition leader Raila Odinga in the runup to the August 9, 2022 presidential election.

The two leaders cited a trust deficit on the part of the ODM leader whom they accused of contravening a pact made in the defunct Nasa coalition that the opposition would front a different candidate last year's polls.
