President William Ruto on Saturday will have a busy programme as he enters day two of his Nyanza region tour.
Ruto will be spending his day in Homa Bay county.
At 9am, the Head of State will be launching the construction of the Mfangano Island Ring Road in Suba North Constituency
In June, Cabinet Secretary for Roads Kipchumba Murkomen said the road had been earmarked for tarmacking as the Kenya Kwanza government aims to improve road infrastructure in Nyanza to open and promote tourism in the region.
Homa Bay has the longest shoreline of Lake Victoria and more than six islands with sandy beaches.
Going further, President Ruto will then visit Victory Fish Farm, Suba South Constituency and also launch the tarmacking of the Sindo-Karungu-Mbita Road in the same area.
In the afternoon, Ruto who is also the United Democratic Alliance party leader will Open UDA office in Homa Bay Town and commission the rehabilitation of Homa Bay Pier.
UDA has been intensifying its charm offensive of Homa Bay as it seeks to marshal support for President Ruto.
Party Secretary General Cleophas Malala and former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero have been at the forefront, meeting key politicians from the county who recently switched their political base from ODM to the ruling party.
The registration exercise was held in April after interim officials were issued with booklet for manual and online registration of new members at the grass-root.
They expected to register at least 300,000 members in four months. Homa Bay is currently having more than 551,000 registered voters.
Nyanza is perceived as ODM leader Raila Odinga's stronghold as he normally gets overwhelming support in presidential elections.
But the President has embarked on an extensive development tour of opposition Raila's Luo Nyanza heartland.
Ruto's four-day tour comes amid calls from a section of political leaders from the region to suspend the trip over the Sondu clashes.
The clashes between two communities living along the border have so far claimed seven lives with some politicians from Luo Nyanza threatening to snub the president's tour.
This would be the second major and extensive development tour of the four Luo Nyanza counties since his election last year.
The first of such a high-level tour was in January when he traversed Kisumu, Migori, Homa Bay and Siaya counties, commissioning development projects.
The President will commission projects touching on various sectors including agriculture, MSME development, housing and settlement, universal health coverage and the Digital superhighway and creative economy.
