Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has arrived at the Bomas of Kenya for the UDA National Women Congress.
This is the first meeting of all female delegates of the UDA Party since President William Ruto took over the presidency last year.
Gachagua was received by UDA charlady Cecile Mbarire.
Out of the 47 elected governors, there are only seven whom are women.
The President William Ruto-led party has four Governors Ann Waiguru ( Kirinyaga), Cecile Mbarire (Embu), Susan Kihika (Nakuru) and Fatuma Achani (Kwale).
UDA has been advocating to empower women and promote their leadership which is a crucial step in promoting gender equality and inclusivity in Kenyan politics.
This move is likely to have far-reaching effects, potentially leading to increased female representation in political roles and, consequently, policies that cater more to women’s needs and concerns.
The forum which brings together elected women leaders is themed 'Empower her: Shaping the future of women leadership'.
The meeting follows the National Governing Council presided over by President William Ruto two weeks ago.
It is part of the party's agenda to empower and advocate for women's interests to have them take up positions at the highest echelons of the party.
Speaking Thursday, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala said they are seeking to entrench the women's league agenda in the party's Constitution.
During today's forum, women are expected to submit their proposals on how to strengthen their representation in the party.
