I stand with Mwangaza - CS Moses Kuria says after impeachment

Public Service CS Moses Kuria has expressed solidarity with the impeached governor Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Mwangaza was on Wednesday impeached after a total of 59 MCAs out of the total 69 voted in support of the impeachment motion.

In a statement on his X page, Kuria said the impeachment is a battle for Mt Kenya kingship.

"I stand with Governo4 Kawira Mwangaza. This is an evil scheme by someone who thinks that the only way to be a Mt Kenya Kingpin is to bring down other leaders not to solve the problems of our people who are getting desperate by the day. History will vindicate me," he said.

The 10-hour motion debated to eject the governor was brought by Majority Leader Evans Mawira.

"At this juncture, it is my pleasure to announce the ayes have it. The motion has passed and the governor stands impeached by the County Assembly of Meru," Meru County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi declared.
