Boost for Kwale residents as Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha launched several projects in the county.
The CS on Saturday launched at least six projects; a 60-bed female ward, a Liquid Oxygen tank, a paediatric unit, an Oxyegn plant, a modern drug storage facility and a Reverse Osmosi Plant at the Msambweni Referal Sub-county hospital.
The new projects are set to transform and improve the health services in the region.
Nakhumicha said the facilities are set to boost maternal and neonatal health care and general treatment of the residents.
She said locals would be able to access improved and affordable health services on their doorsteps.
She said the hospital will be able to offer high-quality dialysis, and laboratory services to combat diseases and save lives.
"The Reverse osmosis plant will help produce clean water for dialysis, laboratory and for consumption," she said.
The oxygen plant will also play a key role for patients who have breathing problems.
Previously, the county used to rely on Mombasa to refill the oxygen cylinders which was expensive and time-consuming.
Nakhumicha said the government gave an additional 305 oxygen cylinders that will assist in promoting health services.
She said no patient would die for lack of oxygen because it is produced and easily accessible within the health facility.
Nakhumicha was accompanied by the Blue Economy CS Salim Mvurya his Energy counterpart Davis Chirchir and the county boss Governor Fatuma Achani.
Going further, the CS said the national government is determined to improve health services and ensure a healthy community.
Still in Kwale, Nakhumicha also launched 1670 Community Health Promoters to promote health services at the grassroots level.
She handed over health kitty and smartphones to assist in treatment and health record keeping.
Nakhumicha said the kitties contain blood pressure and sugar testing equipment and drugs especially panadol and dewarming tablets.
She said by the end of this month all the CHP will start receiving their monthly stipends as motivation towards achieving universal healthcare.
Nakumicha later proceeded to mark the Cancer Awareness Day within Msambweni.
The CS said the cancer was still a threat to Kwale residents since more cases were recorded.
She said the county is number 28 out of the 47 counties.
She urged locals to go for regular checkups to help in early diagnosis and enhance the fight against the disease.
Blue Economy CS Salim Mvurya gave a cheque worth one million to assist health in the region.
Mvurya said the money would be used to buy 50 wheelchairs and 50 stretchers among other equipment.
The CS called on the residents to remain united for more development adding that disunity impedes progress.
Governor Fatuma Achani said her administration has prioritised matters of health.
She said the county given health a huge budget to improve locals' lives.
Achani said more health projects are in the pipeline to bring quality and affordable treatment for all residents.
"Health is our top priority and we will do more to transform the health sector," she said.
